WHERE WE STARTED
The US Air Force wanted a small attache case
that was fire-resistant, anti-static, and capable
of being affixed to the fuselage of a C-130
Hercules aircraft. In addition to these capabilities,
it was also designed to be totally collapsible. |
WHERE WE ENDED UP
Getting to this finished case required a lot
of time and attention. The specs included
details on fabric, foam padding, and
construction techniques, many of them
expressed thus: All seams and sewn
attachments shall be stitched per
Fed-Std-751, stitch type 301, 6-9 stitches
per inch. Care shall be taken to minimize
appearance defects as listed in Fed-Std-752,
part 1, section 3. Et cetera. Any other
questions were answered in 13 additional
notes. Not loosey-goosey.
